Day of the Death Art Workshops
¡All ages are welcome!
Come join us for a day filled with colorful traditions and festivities to honor and remember our loved ones who have passed. This in-person event will feature decorated altars, sugar skull painting, traditional food and drinks, and live music!
For this celebratory event, we are coming together as a community to offer three workshops using art to remember and honor remembering and honoring those who are no longer with us.
Mask Making Workshop
Duration: 1 hour
Materials:
• Vibrant Acrylic Markers for bold designs
• Colored Pencils for intricate details and shading
• Paper Mask Templates to spark creativity
What to Expect: Join our mask-making workshop and unleash your creativity! With the materials we provide, you'll craft a unique and colorful mask to showcase your expression. Our workshop fee covers all necessary materials, including masks and paints.
Take Home: Your very own, one-of-a-kind mask, blending creativity and self-expression!
Painting Catrinas
Duration: 1 hour
Materials:
• Vibrant Acrylic Markers for bold designs
• Colored Pencils for intricate details and shading
• Paper Catrinas Templates to spark creativity
What to Expect: In our workshop, we will learn about the Mexican traditions of catrinas and why they matter. We will unleash your creativity by beautifying the skeletons. It's a fun and unique experience to talk about death and the meaning of ancient traditions. Our workshop fee covers all necessary materials, including Catrinas and paints.
Take Home: Your very own, one-of-a-kind catrina, blending creativity and self-expression!
Autumn Cyanotype 101
Duration: 1 hour
Materials:
• Cyanotype paper and color inks
• Inspiring crafts, negatives and plants to let your imagination flow
• Glass frames and UV lights
What to Expect: Embrace the changing seasons with our autumn cyanotype workshop led by artist and environmentalist Ana Santos. Learn to make bewitching sun prints using various materials evoking the energy of fall. You will never look at those leaves on the ground in quite the same way after this enchanting workshop! Feel free to bring leaves, flowers or negatives to explore
