About this Event
In an increasingly digital economy, data has transitioned from a by-product of operations to a distinct, high-value asset class. This session is designed for the Isle of Man’s Accounting & Corporate Service Provider (CSP) sectors to bridge the gap between technical data management and formal data asset financial recognition. We will explore how data can be valued, defended on a balance sheet, made compliant, risk managed, and utilized for insurers and CSPs, providing real world examples.
Presented by Carl A.R. Wie, Chief Data Officer at Data Valuation Partners, and High Level Ambassador Global Economic Sustainable Development Commission (GESDC).
Derived from our specialized framework, the 2 hour session will cover:
The Shift in Asset Classes: How data is currently treated versus its potential as a new asset class for Insurers and CSPs.
How Data Assets can be utilized now: identifying real world examples, and insurance / Financial product means to get data on Balance sheet.
The Valuation Framework: Defining what a data valuation is and establishing metrics that create compliant, defensible financial "moats".
Compliance & Defensibility: How to ensure calculated results meet the standards required for financial reporting.
Strategic Implementation:
- Getting Data Asset value onto the Balance Sheet.
- Understanding the Estimated Maximum Loss (EML) and risk mitigation schedules for Insurers and CSP’s.
- Leveraging Insurance Credit Wraps and implementation mechanisms.
Regulatory & Accounting Standards: Deep dive into FASB-ASU-2025-06, IFRS 3, and US GAAP in the context of Data Assets.
Actionable Outcomes: Real-world examples across sectors and a walkthrough of the "Data Asset Tear Sheet" as a clear path of trust.
