Crooked River Ragtime Quintet
About this Event
John Reynolds and Jack DiAlesandro have played together for nearly 50 years. As the Crooked River Stompers their repertoire includes acoustic blues and ragtime, Celtic and old-time music, medicine show tunes, gypsy music, and swing jazz. Original compositions round out a deep reservoir of music performed with a high degree of skill.
First appearing with the Kent State Sinfonia their collaboration with classical musicians is revisited with the newly formed Crooked River Ragtime Quintet. This ensemble explores classic ragtime and its evolution into multiple music genres. A typical program explores the roots of ragtime as well as it’s influence in folk, blues, jazz, pop, and contemporary classical music. John and Jack pepper their performances with colorful, fun and informative commentary.
The Crooked River Ragtime Quintet members are:
John Reynolds, mandolin/vocals
Jack DiAlesandro, guitar/vocals
Tim Staron, violin
Devon Caskey, viola
and Brendon Phelps, cello.
