Creative Careers Evening at Massey Wellington
About this Event
What can you do with a creative degree?
College of Creative Arts | Toi Rauwhārangi graduates go on to build incredibly varied and inspiring careers across the creative industries and beyond. While creative study is sometimes questioned for its “employability”, the reality is that Aotearoa New Zealand’s arts and creative sector contributes $17.5 billion to GDP and makes up 4.2% of the total economy.
So where do our Screen Arts, Commercial Music, Design and Fine Arts graduates really end up?
Join us for a candid panel with recent graduates from Massey University’s College of Creative Arts | Toi Rauwhārangi and hear the real story of life after study: how they found work, what that transition looked like, and how they’re using what they learned in the real world. From building creative businesses and freelance careers to working in agencies, education, the public sector, and creative roles, our graduates are forging all kinds of futures.
You’ll hear from people working as:
- artists and makers
- designers and screen creatives
- musicians and creative entrepreneurs
- freelancers, contractors and sole traders
- business owners and educators
- creatives working both inside and outside the traditional creative industries
They’ll share the opportunities, connections and experiences that shaped their journey during study and beyond — including the realities of getting started in today’s economy.
We’ve scheduled this event for the evening before Open Day so students and whānau can attend together, especially if daytime commitments or travel make it harder to join us during the day. If you’re visiting from out of town, it’s also a great way to make the most of your time in Wellington.
