Spend an afternoon discovering how to begin building your own invertebrate collection, featuring hands-on guidance with a focus on insects.
About this Event

We will spend the afternoon exploring the fundamentals of developing your own insect and other invertebrate collection. The session will cover how to prepare both wet and dry collections, including techniques for pinning, carding, and pointing insect specimens.

Through demonstrations and guided practice, you will learn essential methods and will have access to all necessary equipment to apply these skills yourself. Specimens will be provided, although you are welcome to bring your own.

In addition, we will cover best practices for specimen handling, curation, and accurate labeling, as well as guidance on storing your collection safely. The workshop will also introduce effective pest management techniques to ensure the long-term care of your specimens.
