About this Event

Come join us on Sunday 16th August 2026, 3-4pm at the National Library Building, Victoria Street Level 1 Lobby for a fun, exciting, and free family-friendly music, dance and poetry join-along session!

Creating Joy is a series of fun, informal mixed arts jams bringing together music, song, spoken word, poetry, and dance in one spontaneous, infectious, and joyful space.

It’s “by the people, for the people”. Open to all ages, all levels. No auditions. No pressure. Just passionate people creating together.

This edition of Creating Joy is all about “Finding Joy”. Where do YOU find joy?

We're inviting our performers and audience to share the people, places, moments that bring us joy. We know that hearing each other’s stories is always inspiring, and we want to create a joyous space to celebrate that together.

Creating Joy: Finding Joy” fits this year's NDP theme, "Majulah Singapura, Go Beyond!" — a reminder to find joy in unexpected, refreshing and maybe even tender places.

Our vision at Creating Joy is to draw our communities closer, inject a little fun and joy back into our hectic lives, dissolve our self-limiting beliefs of "too paiseh lah" and "I'm not good enough," and let ourselves rekindle that love of great music & having a good time together.

"It takes a village" to bring out the best in us. Come join us — it's completely free and open to the public. Please forward to your friends, family and colleagues, and bring your people along.

We'll also have some NDP favourites for everyone to join in on - so warm up those vocal cords for a proper singalong! Let's get this party started 😊

If you'd like to be part of the artist lineup (you don't have to be a professional…just passionate), fill in the form here and we'll get back to you. Walk-ins are welcome on the day too. See you there!
About Creating Joy
Creating Joy is a mixed arts jam series bringing together music, song, spoken word, poetry, and dance in one spontaneous, joyful space. It's for anyone who has ever tapped their foot to a beat, mouthed the words to a song, or felt something stir when they watched someone perform. Many of us played instruments or danced growing up — and somewhere along the way, quietly put it down. Creating Joy is the space to pick it back up, or to simply be in a room where that energy lives. No auditions, no pressure, no professionals-only. Just people creating together, because it's beautiful and because we need it.
About The Organizers
Creating Joy was co-founded by three Singaporeans who believe that creativity belongs to everyone and that joy is always worth making room for.
Meghana Vinai is a multidisciplinary artist, writer, and creative consultant, and the founder of Sonder Ink: a creative label for artists and the creative industry, spanning personal development, branding, and communications.
Elaine Teo is The Mindful Hedonist - a coach, psychologist, meditation teacher, community-builder, and musician who guides people to unlock the simple pleasures of being alive. Through her philosophy of Mindful Hedonism, she shows others how to cultivate joy, have compassion for self and others, connect, and savour life in all its beauty. This in turn drives powerful performance - in all its forms.
Imelda Tan is an arts appreciator and the founder of Artskakis, which provides coordination services across arts, culture, creativity, and learning in Singapore.
