Thekchen Choling Singapore 100,000 Buddhas Great Liberation Ullambana Festival

As part of Thekchen Choling Singapore’s 25th anniversary celebrations, the temple introduces the Blessings Mailbox for this year’s Ullambana Festival. Visitors can write personal messages to departed loved ones — whether a thank you, apology, fond memory or simple update — and place them in the mailbox at a dedicated reflection space.

The letters will be blessed by the temple’s Sangha through prayers and merit dedication throughout the Ullambana period, before being ceremonially offered at the close of the festival as a symbolic release of love, gratitude and remembrance.

Beyond the Blessings Mailbox, Thekchen Choling’s “100,000 Buddhas Great Liberation Ullambana Festival” features a range of traditional Buddhist observances throughout August, including:

• Ullambana Recitation Sessions – Chinese and Tibetan chanting with merits dedicated to the living and departed.
• Divine Protection & Blessings – Name dedications at the Thousand-Arm Guanyin shrine for blessings and protection during the seventh lunar month.
• Buddha’s Joyful Day – Offerings of meals and daily necessities to more than 200 Venerables from Singapore and Nepal.
• Recitation of One Hundred Thousand Buddha Names – Extensive prayers dedicated to purification and merit accumulation.
• Grand Meritorious Offerings & Charity Ceremonies – Ceremonies on 22 and 23 August dedicated to ancestors, past creditors and wandering spirits.
