Court Support Circle : Walbran Land Defenders

🌲 We Stand for the Ancient Ones 🌲
We stand for the trees-the ancient ones.
As stewards of this land, we have a responsibility to protect what
cannot protect itself. This is a sacred responsibility.
Join us at the courthouse to stand with the Walbran land defenders who put themselves between industry and ancient forests to stop the saws.
These defenders acted out of care, courage, and love for the living
world. They stood to protect old-growth forests, clean watersheds, biodiversity, and future generations.
Their actions were reasonable.
Their urgency was necessary.
British Columbia continues to lose old-growth forests at an alarming rate. Time is running out to protect what remains.
Their courage deserves to be witnessed.
Our forests deserve to be defended.
🌿 When we stand together, the forest is not standing alone. Let the courts see that protecting ancient forests is an act of care-not a crime.
💥Court Support Gathering
Victoria Courthouse
850 Burdett Avenue, Victoria, BC
💥First Court Hearing :: Wednesday, July 29 - Gather outside the
courthouse at 8:15 am
8:15 am: Court Circle. Meet at the Blanshard St. entrance to the
Victoria courthouse (850 Burdett Avenue) to express our support and gratitude through words and music. At 8:50 those of us who are able will go into the courtroom.
9:00 am: Court addresses the lawsuit against Elder Bill and an
application from Tsawak-qin Forestry (Western Forest Products) to extend the Walbran Injunction for another year. This is a 'Judicial Management Conference'.
10:00 am: A continuation of the sentencing of Kenni ("Trivia") Apt—an important test case to determine if the more lenient sentencing precedents from Fairy Creek should prevail, or whether stiffer (often custodial) sentences from Trans Mountain are appropriate.
💥Second Court Hearing :: Tuesday, August 4 - Gather outside the courthouse at 8:15 am
8:15 am: Court Circle. Meet at the Blanshard St. entrance to the
