About this Event
The word courage comes from the Latin cor, meaning “heart.”
Inspired by the lives and experiences of people seeking sanctuary, Refugee Week 2026 invites us to explore the theme of Courage.
For refugees around the world, courage is often a daily necessity. It is the courage to face unknown journeys, learn new languages, navigate unfamiliar systems, or simply to wake up each morning and step into an uncertain world.
Join us at Tower Hamlets Town Hall for a vibrant celebration of courage, creativity and community. Local artists will bring the theme to life through painting, film, sculpture and performance.
We're proud to be joined by Hear Me Out, Crisis, Mile End Community Project, Praxis, Lifeseekers Aid, Anvil Arts, and 100 Years 100 Migrants.
This exhibition will open with a private view on Wednesday 24 June, and will be open to the public on:
Thursday 25 June 9:00am to 8:00pm
Friday 26th June 9:00 to 5:00pm
You do not need a ticket to join us on the Thursday and Friday.
About 100 Years 100 Migrants
The exhibition is being put on by Tower Hamlets Council as part of a wider series of events to celebrate Refugee Week, and the 100 Years 100 Migrants project are proud to represent a number of refugees as part of their project. At the same time, they recognise that not all of their participants fall under this category. Everybody has their individual reasons for migrating, be they economic, social or political. Their project aims to unite people by their very differences, by highlighting the stories of 100 individuals from 100 different countries and across 100 years of age.
