In this class we work on different movement principles based on techniques of contemporary dance and improvisation, with influences from somatic movement practices, instant composition, floor work and release techniques, occasionally visiting other movement traditions and styles of dance as well. It is a holistic, fun and playful training that deeply anchors the participants into their bodies, where through a comprehensive somatic participation a genuine connection with our moving selves, others and our immediate surroundings can start to emerge. Technical skills are developed both through various approaches of movement research and fixed movement combinations / choreographies. An effortless, sustainable physicality and technique is encouraged; a body that is soft and receptive, yet awake, alert and perceptive – developing towards a natural, open, personal and deeply embodied dancing presence.
Some previous experience in contemporary dance or other forms of movement practices is required.
