Connecting Through Technology: Leveraging Family Portals to Enhance Efficiency
Host: Varsha Chaugai
Info: The second presentation is all about innovation in SNFs and how digital health solutions, specifically resident and family portals, are shaping the future of communication in SNFs. We will be highlighting how family portals, a novelty in the industry, are now a necessity to not only meet the evolving needs of residents and their families but also to efficiently maintain regulatory compliance. While patients have access to their health information through patient portals in primary and acute care, the family portal remains a relatively new concept in SNF. As a result, many SNF homes are unaware of the significant impact this technology can have—not only in enhancing family satisfaction but also in freeing up staff time to focus on resident care. The case study from Shannondell will underscore the critical role that family portals play in improving care quality and satisfaction through operational innovation.
