Connect with Nature: Foraging, Fresh Air & Celebration
Foraging for Beginners | Family-Friendly Nature Walk
Step outdoors, discover what is growing around you and experience nature differently.
Join Adelphe Connect for a relaxed, family-friendly foraging walk through Pittencrieff Park, where we will discover seasonal edible plants and flowers, learn about their uses and health benefits, and enjoy something delicious made from foraged ingredients.
We will also be celebrating and crowning the winners of our July Step Challenge, so come ready for a lovely afternoon of nature, learning, connection and celebration.
About the event
How often do we walk past plants without knowing what they are, whether they are edible, or how they have traditionally been used?
On Saturday 12 September, we are heading into beautiful Pittencrieff Park for our Connect with Nature Walk, led by experienced forager and food educator Vivian Maeda.
This is designed especially for complete beginners. You do not need any previous knowledge of foraging. Come curious and ready to look at the natural world around you with fresh eyes.
During our walk, Vivian will introduce us to some of the seasonal edible plants and flowers growing around us. We will talk about how to forage responsibly, which parts of plants can be gathered, how they can be used, and some of their health benefits.
And yes, there will be something to taste too!
What to expect
You will:
- Discover seasonal edible plants and flowers growing locally
- Learn the basics of safe and sustainable foraging
- Explore simple ways to use what you find
- Learn about the health benefits of selected plants
- Taste something delicious made using foraged ingredients
- Spend time outdoors, meet others and enjoy Pittencrieff Park
- Join us as we crown the winners of our July Step Challenge
Your walk leader
Our walk will be led by Vivian Maeda, a member of the Association of Foragers, qualified Naturopath Nutritionist, member of the ANP and GNC, and experienced food educator.
Vivian will guide us through the park and help us begin to recognise some of the edible plants that may be right under our noses.
