Comox Valley Climate Action Day

Are you part of the silent majority that is concerned about the climate crisis and want to know what you can do to make a difference? Whether you're eager to cut home energy costs, green your commute, or turn climate anxiety into practical action, you don't have to figure it out alone.

The event will help you get first hand facts that cut through misinformation, make connections and share your experiences, and help you create your action plan by participating in dialogues in high impact areas (three that you will select) that are of interest to you:

• Healthy, Electrified Homes & Renewable Energy
• Sustainable and Electrified Mobility
• Decarbonize your Bank Account and Investments
• Planet-Friendly Diets & Responsible Consumption, and
• Using your Voice and Vote to Make a Difference.

This event is made possible through the Comox Valley Foundation’s Neighbourhood Small Grant and a collaboration of community organizations and climate leaders from the Comox Valley.

Note: Some break-out sessions may be on a covered patio with amazing views of the Puntledge River! Please dress for the temperature!

Pre-Event (Optional): Sustainable Mobility & Green Home Bike Tour

When: Sunday, September 27 at 12:30 PM

Start Location: Sims Park (ending at River Heights Church at 2:15 pm, in time for the main event)

See local solutions in the wild! Join a guided bike ride highlighting Courtenay's cycling infrastructure and vision to build safe routes. Along the the way, stop for tours of Courtenay’s first Passive House and a retrofitted home that went completely fossil-gas-free with heat pumps, an electric fireplace, and an induction cooktop
