Community Reforestation Day Volunteer Event
About this Event
Date and time: Friday, July 17 and Saturday, July 18, 2026.
Event location: Edson and near Wolf Lake, Yellowhead County.
Pick-up location: Edmonton Inn and Conference Centre (11830 Kingsway NW, Edmonton, AB, T5G 0X5).
This event is for participants aged 12 and above. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult. The event requires the participants to be physically fit, able to stand on uneven ground for long periods, bend over, and work with tools such as shovels and pruners.
About this event:
This is an all-day, outdoor event.
This is a free event, and no prior experience is required to participate. By volunteering, you will gain hands-on experience with tree planting and seed collection. You will have access to all necessary tools and seed collection materials, as well as a catered bagged dinner and lunch. Transportation is provided from Edmonton to Edson and to the planting site near Wolf Lake in Yellowhead County and back.
The event will commence at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, July 17, and continue until 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026.
A limited number of spots are available.
Spots are limited and offered to Citizens on a first-come, first-served basis. Please only register if you are committed to attending. If you register and do not attend, you will prevent someone else from getting this opportunity. Registered for the event and can no longer attend? It’s okay. Life happens! The Community Reforestation Day is an outdoor event that requires a lot of walking on uneven terrain and in all-weather conditions. We will spend extended intervals standing, sharing outdoor spaces with wildlife, and handling tools like the tree-planting shovels. Please consider this before registering as a volunteer.
Note for Attendees: This event will take place rain or shine. Please check the weather report for the date and dress appropriately. Consider bringing:

∞ Raingear (raincoat, boots, etc.)
∞ Extra snacks
∞ Water bottles, sunscreen, hats, and bug spray will be provided.
