Community Nature Night (October): Fall Foliage and Ecology

We will identify over 10 different species using a variety of hands-on methods. There will be a chance to use field guides and a discussion of various plant uses for people and the more-than-human community. This evening will be focused on seasonal changes for the autumn, and highlight what plants are still in flower or fruit, as well as identification tips throughout the year.

All experience levels are welcome. Favourite field guides are welcome, and a notebook and writing implement are strongly recommended. Feel welcome to bring your own nut-free snacks.

*We'll be meeting at Étienne Brulé Fire Pit, north of 10 Catherine Street Parking lot. A portapotty is available.

Pine's Community Nature Nights are free and open invitation workshops intended to inspire curiosity, learning, and connection. Each month, experienced mentors create a space for community members to grow their naturalist knowledge, tackle new outdoor skills, and explore mentoring techniques that support nature connection. Gatherings vary in theme and location (in-person and online) to create opportunities for more people to engage in nature connection. While gatherings are geared towards adults, all ages who feel able to respectfully engage with a given theme are welcome (those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult). Join us to learn, laugh, and build connections with our human and more-than-human community!
