About this Event
Do you want to learn more about climate change and what other people and communities in North Yorkshire are already doing to reduce carbon emissions and 'go green'? If so, this course is designed for you.
We need to tackle climate change but action within homes, organisations or communities can generate a wealth of other benefits - improving health and wellbeing, alleviating financial pressures, supporting nature and outside spaces.
Our course will take a practical approach to looking at what we can all do, no matter how big or small, aims to give you the tools and knowledge to discuss the topic with others, and ultimately inspire action within local communities. Please note that there are no specific requirements on you after the course.
Run over 3 sessions (1.5 hours per week), this course will cover:
- background to climate change and UK policies and targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions
- understanding your own carbon footprint and that of your organisation or community
- hearing about local climate projects and initiatives to inspire action
- possible areas of action for your home, organisation or community
- how to engage others
- where to find sources of funding and practical support
You will leave the course with contacts for further support, the opportunity to stay part of a group of like-minded individuals, and opportunity to access follow-up 1-2-1 advice if there is a specific initiative you want to take forward.
