Collage and Mixed Media (4th Saturdays, 11 am in Seattle)

Dive into a world of color, texture, and imagination! In this playful, hands-on class, you’ll explore collage and mixed media using a variety of supplied materials: colored paper, fabric scraps, buttons, magazine cutouts, and other fun “found objects.” You’re welcome to bring any personal materials you’d like to incorporate as well.

Along the way, Shelley will demonstrate foundational techniques for strong composition and color harmony, as well as creative ways to create the illusion of distance and depth. You’ll also experiment with patterning and visual rhythm, learning how repetition and variation can bring art to life. As you layer shapes, textures, and imagery, you’ll develop both intuition and skill, balancing play with gentle artistic guidance. Each project is created on sturdy paper or small card-sized pieces that can be turned into magnets, making them perfect for displaying your work at home. Whether you’re here to experiment freely or to refine your artistic eye, this class offers a relaxed, supportive space for exploration, creativity, and joyful making. Supplies Included!
