Description: Join us for an evening with featured guest speaker Nolan Carter, Haw River Trail Coordinator, as he presents “20 Years of the Haw River Trail: Past, Present, & Future.” This presentation will explore the history of the Haw River Trail, how it began, the progress made over the past two decades, and the vision for its future. Attendees will also learn about the newest park addition to the trail and have the opportunity to share input that will help guide future development.
About the Speaker: Nolan Carter is the Haw River Trail Coordinator for Alamance County, where he works to expand public access to the natural beauty of the Haw River while helping guide the long-term vision for the regional trail system. As chair of the Friends of the Haw River State Trail, he collaborates with community partners, volunteers, and local leaders to support trail development and stewardship. A key part of his role involves working directly with landowners along the Haw River to build relationships and secure opportunities for new hiking trail connections that will link communities to nature. Nolan earned his degree in Community Recreation and Event Planning from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). Through his work, he is passionate about creating outdoor recreation opportunities and helping residents and visitors experience the landscapes that make Alamance County unique. Outside work, Nolan enjoys running, cycling, and values spending time outdoors with his wife and their two children.
Guests will have the opportunity to connect with representatives from local recreation and parks departments to learn about park, trail, and lake destinations, as well as outdoor programs available throughout the community. Enjoy coffee, light refreshments, and engaging conversations in a welcoming setting. Whether you enjoy walking, hiking, paddling, birding, or simply spending time outdoors, this is an event you won’t want to miss. This informative presentation will spark ideas for your next adventure along the Haw River Trail here in Alamance County and have you ready to lace up your shoes and explore. Presented by the Graham and Burlington Recreation & Parks Departments.
