Coach Trip: RSPB Titchwell Marsh

On the north Norfolk coast, Titchwell is one of Britain’s premier wetland reserves. In November, vast flocks of Wigeon, Teal, and Brent Geese gather on the lagoons, joined by Pintail, Shoveler, and Goldeneye. Waders such as Avocet, Knot, and Grey Plover feed in the shallows and on the shore, while Marsh Harriers quarter the reedbeds. Offshore, rafts of Common Scoter are often seen, along with regular Red-breasted Merganser and Red-throated Diver. With its mix of freshwater pools, saltmarsh, and beach, Titchwell offers superb late autumn birding in a classic Norfolk setting.

We will stay until evening to witness the spectacular roost, as Marsh Harriers – sometimes joined by Hen Harriers – drift in over the reedbeds to settle for the night.

• Arrive by 07:50 to board and stow your gear
• Nearest Tube: Embankment
• Outbound journey includes a 20-min service stop; no stop on return
• Depart reserve at 17:00

• Clothes for all weathers
• Binoculars (and scope if you have one)
• Packed lunch if you wish to join the trip leaders for lunch in one of the hides
