About this Event

Ahora y en la hora is a testimonial journey shaped by war, memory and the fragile line between life and death. In this work, Héctor Abad Faciolince recounts his trip to Ukraine in mid-2023, which he took shortly after recovering from open-heart surgery. What began as a literary invitation soon turned into a harrowing experience when a Russian missile struck the Kramatorsk pizzeria where the author and his companions were dining.

With moving honesty, Abad returns to the themes that define his work: the devastation of war, the senseless death of innocents, the shock and guilt of the survivor, and the irresistible need to bear witness. This intense narrative explores how storytelling becomes a way to confront violence and understand the fragile, unpredictable nature of being alive.

To get the most out of this activity, we recommend reading the book in the original language. Please note the book club takes place in Spanish (although English speakers are also welcome).
