Book of the Month
About this Event
Get Involved with Our Book of the Month!
Each month, we’ll pick a novel we think you’ll love - something gripping, uplifting, thought-provoking, funny, or maybe even all of the above!
Whether you’re hooked from the first page or still making up your mind, you’ll have the chance to share your thoughts with other readers. Our Book of the Month group meets on the first Monday of every month in a friendly and welcoming library atmosphere.
It’s the perfect way to discover books you might not have chosen yourself and enjoy some lively, thoughtful conversations!
Our Book of the Month for April is Time Shelter by Georgi Gospodinov.
We will discuss this book in our next meeting on Monday, 11 May at 4.30 pm.
Copies are available in the library.
About the Book
Winner of the International Booker Prize 2023 and a Book of the Year in the Guardian and Financial Times, Time Shelter is a playful, thought-provoking novel about memory, nostalgia, and our relationship with the past.
It follows Gaustine, who creates a ‘clinic for the past’ where each floor recreates a different decade to help Alzheimer’s patients reconnect with their memories. But as the idea grows, healthy people begin seeking refuge there too, raising unsettling questions about escape, identity, and the pull of the past.
Both witty and haunting, Time Shelter is a striking exploration of time, history, and what it means to belong.
