Cloisonné Enamel Workshop
We’re delighted to offer this inspiring two-day cloisonné enamel course with master enameller Alexandra Raphael.
Cloisonné is an ancient enamelling technique where coloured glass is fired into designs created with fine silver or gold wires. Students will learn to work with transparent and opaque enamels on silver, using traditional wet-lay methods, and see demonstrations of grinding and preparing enamel for rich colour.
Beginner students will make samples both with and without flux, in various colours, producing a sample. After this introduction, students will work on their own design, creating a beautiful round domed disc a pendant (or could be set into a box after the workshop) with cloisonné wires and enamel.
First-time students receive a silver disc included in the fee. Returning students can use their own or purchase silver on the day, and may work on shapes of their choice with Alex’s expert guidance.

Tutor: Alexandra Raphael
£300 per person for new students (silver disc and enamel included)
£260 per person for returning students (enamel only included)
Previous enamelling experience not necessary, but students should be confident using normal jewellery tools and equipment.
