Rider Confidence: Finding Your Mindset in the Saddle
with Kelly Nicholas, HCPC Registered Sport Psychologist
A talk on the psychology of rider confidence, exploring the mental side of equestrianism that is often overlooked. Drawing on her experience as a Sport Psychologist working with riders and athletes, as well as her own experience as a rider, Kelly will share practical tools and strategies to help riders understand and manage the challenges they face, including:
- How your thoughts, emotions and physical responses influence your riding, and how tension, nerves and hesitation can affect the way you communicate with your horse
- Understanding confidence, why it can be affected by falls, setbacks and challenging experiences, and how to rebuild it
- Practical strategies to manage nerves, stay calm under pressure, and reset when things don’t go to plan, whether hacking, training or competing
This will be an interactive session, with opportunities to explore your own challenges and learn practical strategies that can be applied both in and out of the saddle. Whether you want to get involved in the discussion or simply sit back, listen and take away some ideas, everyone is welcome.
Whether you’re returning after a confidence knock, preparing for a competition, or simply wanting to feel calmer and more in control when riding, this session will provide practical tools to help you develop a more confident and resilient mindset in the saddle.
💷 £7.50pp — refreshments available
