Circle Dance Around The World For Women

This workshop is open to all with or without experience. You don’t have to think of yourself as a dancer! Just a willingness to give it a go.

In many ways it’s beyond the steps, even though there are steps to be learnt. We connect with our hands – we connect with the floor / earth, we connect as a circle and as a community.

It's uplifting, joyous, fun, yet profound and peaceful too.

Feel lighter in your spirit, connected as a group, more centered and learn about different genres of circle dance.

It’s good for the brain, the bones, our mood, our heart + much more!

What to expect:

There will be a small sprinkling of Alexander Technique at the beginning to set ourselves off from a more balanced place.

Each dance will be taught with words, and Sophia demonstrating. There will be a mix of slow and lively, fun and more contemplative, easy and more challenging dances, with many genres of music.

We will have a short break in the middle. Sophia will share a little bit about her journey with dance in the break and the origins of Circle / Sacred dance.

The dances will be a mix of recently choreographed and traditional from around the world - a big mix!

There will be herbal teas + vegan snacks for a short break.

What to bring:

Wear layers of clothes to peel off/on as and when required.

Wear comfortable clothing.

Some like to wear floaty skirts or dresses, but the invitation is always to be comfortable.

Bare feet OR soft flat dance shoes/soft trainers.

This is a women only event.

Pregnant women are welcome, but it’s up to the individual to be fit & healthy or get advice from your GP.

It’s absolutely fine to sit out of one or two dances if needed.
