Join archaeologist and ethnohistorian Chester King for a deep dive into the distribution of Native Californian settlements over time. Explore maps of historic settlements and archaeological sites to examine change and continuity. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions.

About the Speaker: Involved in archaeological excavations since 1960, King has extensive experience in the archaeology of southern California and the anthropology of Native Californians. He has worked with Chumash communities since 1977, having served as an archaeological consultant for the United Chumash Council and for the Santa Ynez Indian Reservation Elders Council. Dedicated to the preservation of archaeological resources, King is recognized by many Indigenous Americans for his communication and understanding of Native perspectives.
