K-5 students are invited to create projects to carry, wave and play at the Hannibal Folklife Festival Children's Parade.

The Children’s Parade is making a comeback as part of the 50th Annual Hannibal Folklife Festival, and the Hannibal Arts Council is inviting K-5 students to help bring the fun, color and creativity to Historic Main Street.

To get young parade participants ready for the day, the Hannibal Arts Council will host a special “Everyone Loves a Parade” Workshop from 10:00 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, October 3, at the Hannibal Arts Council, 105 S. Main St.

During the hands-on workshop, kids will create colorful projects they can carry, wave and even play as they march in the parade. The workshop will give young artists a chance to use their imaginations, make something uniquely their own and prepare to become part of a special moment at the Hannibal Folklife Festival.

Bringing back the Children’s Parade is a way to connect a new generation with the traditions of the Hannibal Folklife Festival while giving kids an opportunity to be more than spectators, they get to be part of the celebration! The last Children’s Parade was during the 2016 Hannibal Folklife Festival.

The 50th Annual Hannibal Folklife Festival will be held October 17-18 in historic downtown Hannibal, with the parade kicking off the festival at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 17.
