Strides for CJD 2K/5K Walk

Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease is a rare neurological and fatal prion disease. There is not much known about this aggressive disease, but through fundraising and research a cure could be right around the corner.
In May 2025, our family lost someone very special to us to this horrible disease. Paul R. Yakes, Jr. (but to those who knew him, Ricky) grew up right here in Hannibal. He was a Southside kid, a 1975 HHS graduate, a retired Air Force officer, husband, dad, and grandpa.
We are hosting this walk to bring awareness and to raise funds to donate to the CJD Foundation for their annual Strides for CJD, which is happening in major cities in the US during the first two weeks in October.
The walk will be at the Sodalis trail, with the starting point being at the pavilion next to the dog park. You can choose a 2K or 5K walk (marked).
Join us for a memory walk (registration $30), help cheer walkers on, fellowship and a bite to eat is free. Whether you knew Ricky or not, you are welcome to join us. And if you can donate, even just a little bit, we appreciate your support in finding a cure.

• If you register before AUGUST 19, you can get a free T-shirt!
• Select “Register” at the bottom of the page.
• Choose “Individual or Small Group Run/Walk”
• You will automatically be placed in the Team named “Breaking the Fold For Ricky”
• Add a donation if you wish.
• Early Bird registration is $30 Adult, $20 Child under 12.
• After 8/19, you can register the day of the event (you just won’t get a shirt!)
