About this Event
Amid the fast pace of Madrid, discover a space of silence and serenity.
From Friday, May 8th (5:00 PM) to Sunday, May 10th (4:00 PM), join our WeiYang Chan Meditation Retreat at Casa Cristo del Pardo (Pista del Cristo de El Pardo nº 11, 28048 Madrid).
This retreat combines authentic Chan Buddhist teachings with gentle body practices such as yoga and walking meditation, so you can:
🌿 Reduce stress and anxiety, learning to stay calm even in challenging moments.
🌿 Strengthen focus and mental clarity, improving your performance at work and in daily life.
🌿 Enhance your relationships, cultivating a more patient and compassionate mind.
Chan meditation helps the mind quiet down naturally. With fewer scattered thoughts, it becomes easier to focus, and keep your energy throughout the day. Many people dealing with low mood or lack of motivation find that this practice gives them more clarity, stamina, and inner stability—supporting them through difficult moments without needing to force anything.
The program includes:
• Complete WeiYang Chan meditation instructions
• Guided sitting meditation sessions
• Mantra recitation
• Yoga and prostration classes
• Dharma talks
• Walking meditation in nature
• Tea ceremony with Buddhist monks

🌸 About Master YongHua
Master YongHua was born in South Vietnam and arrived in the United States in 1973, where he studied Mathematics and earned a Master’s in Business Administration. After a career in the corporate world, he left lay life to study Chan under Grand Master XuanHua.
He founded Bodhi Light International in California, an organization dedicated to improving people’s lives through the teachings of Mahāyāna Buddhism. For more than 20 years, he has offered free retreats and programs in the United States (California), South Korea, and now Europe.
Recognized in Korea, where he has given talks in prominent temples and on television, Master YongHua teaches with clarity and compassion, helping those who listen to reduce suffering, cultivate wisdom, and find deeper purpose in life.
Master XianXin – Abbess of Gold Forest Meditation Center
Master XianXin, originally from Taiwan, has been a disciple of Master YongHua since nearly the beginning and was ordained as a Buddhist nun under his guidance over ten years ago. She has taught meditation and given Dharma talks in Korea and on YouTube, sharing her clarity and warmth with many practitioners.
What sets her apart is the confidence and serenity she radiates. Her charisma is kind, approachable, and deeply encouraging. In her popular Zoom meditation class, she has created a community where people feel supported, can express their concerns, and grow together.
Learning from her is not just about receiving teachings: it is about feeling supported, understood, and moving forward with greater stability and inner peace.
Venerable XianPu – Meditation and Yoga Instructor
Venerable XianPu is a Buddhist nun from South Korea, ordained three years ago in Master YongHua’s organization. She was previously a yoga teacher, and during the retreat she will guide yoga sessions to prepare the body and support a more stable meditation practice.
She currently leads a meditation class for Europeans, attended by many participants from Spain. She is approachable, warm, and creates an atmosphere of trust, making it easy for people to share their concerns.
Speaking with her is comforting: she listens attentively, is deeply understanding, and uses Dharma and meditation to help others see more clearly and find wiser solutions. With her, one feels supported, understood, and accompanied on their personal path.
