Petra Skapa

Agile Transformation Coach and Certified Scrum Trainer (2011)

Petra has been leading Agile transformations for over 15 years across North America, Europe, the UK and India. As Gap Inc’s Chief Agilist, and as a Scrum Master, Iteration Manager, Agile Project Manager, and Senior Consultant for a variety of global organizations, Petra brings an invaluable breadth of real-world experience to her work.

As a Certified Scrum Trainer, Petra has taught thousands of students in Certified Scrum Master and Certified Scrum Product Owner classes. She has helped teams and executives leverage Agile and Scrum at companies across multiple industries, including aviation, retail, medical, leasing, insurance, telecom, government and Ivy League universities.

Thanks to her background as a social worker, Petra understands that all change—especially at the organizational level—comes directly from individuals; people’s choices are directly influenced by their motivations, be they external or internal. Hence, Petra is widely respected for being able to quickly build trust with a team by seeking to understand each individual’s perspective and leading them in a direction where they see value for themselves, their product and their organization.

Petra is also a regular keynote speaker at global conferences, including Agile Central Europe, Agile Eastern Europe, Better Software Conference, Dev Chicks, XP Suisse and Global Scrum Gathering Paris 2013, and leads the Scrum Breakfast Club in Victoria, BC.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Human and Social Development from the University of Victoria, and a post graduate diploma in Object Oriented Software Technology from Saint Mary’s University.

Petra’s key values are integrity and respect for people
