Join CHEC for the monthly Volunteer Meeting! Locally sourced snacks and coffee will be served. This month’s meeting will focus on the upcoming annual conservation field survey CHEC conducts for Charlotte County. The survey includes various different components- vegetation transects identification, Gopher tortoise burrows count, and Florida Scrub jays bird count. Jo, a former CHEC educator, and current board member for the Neighborhood Land Conservancy will be talking about Gopher tortoises. The conservation surveys allow the landowners to get a better understanding on how to manage their property to ensure a healthy habitat for these species.
To conclude, upcoming programs and volunteer opportunities at Cedar Point will be shared. The meeting will take place at the visitor center at Cedar Point Environmental Park located at
2300 Placida Road, Englewood, Florida, 34224.
