Over the past months, the CARES ‘pilot research’ project has brought together communities, researchers, creatives, local government bodies, and partners to explore what careful and responsible climate adaptation means for the people and places through design.
It all began with our strategic Open Days and Explorative Workshops, where experiences, values, and ideas to help shape a more adaptive present and future were shared by people across Cambridge and the Fens. Together, we explored how we can protect, adapt, and sustain our food networks, water resources, and heritage through social and cultural acts, collaboration, creative thinking and co-design.
Now, we are excited to invite you to our Closing Day + Next Steps, where we will reflect on what we have learned from this pilot, showcase the project's findings and outcomes, and explore how this work can continue to grow.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed their time, ideas, and lived experiences. Every conversation has helped us in imagining and understanding what a stronger foundation for fair, inclusive, equitable, and culturally rooted climate adaptation could look like and mean for communities in the East of England.
