About this Event
This event is to help students think about different paths in the humanitarian, disaster and emergency response sectors, taking on insights from recent HCRI alumni and HR professionals in the humanitarian sector.
Panel 1: Alumni and Peer Learning
We'll be joined by HCRI alumni and current staff/students, sharing their experiences of getting into their sectors and answering any questions you may have.
Speakers are:
- Hannah Cameron-Ross, Emergency Planning Officer at Highland Council, and recent HCRI alumni
- Ahmed Ibrahim, who has served as both a Project Coordinator and Pharamacist for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Lebanon, Haiti, South Sudan, and more.
- Dr Ümit Seven, Postdoc Researcher at HCRI, with previous roles at UN World Food Programme and NATO.
Panel 2: The view from HR: Advice on job applications and career routes
We'll be joined by Human Resources professionals from international humanitarian NGOs, to give pointers and advice on applying for jobs and building your career.
Speakers are:
- Greg Moores, Director of People at MSF UK
- Murad Mubin, Head of HR, Action for Humanity
- Mei Morrish, Recruitment Officer, Mines Advisory Group
