Somatic meditation is an approach that welcomes the body and all of its experience into the meditation space. We will explore practices and principles that enhance grounding and self-awareness while also deepening rest, energetic balance and sensory enjoyment. Including and honouring your body makes meditation feel easier and more natural. The idea is to align with your instincts, desires and emotions to bring a sense of harmony to your whole self.
In this special session, we will also have the power of medicinal cannabis oil to support us on our inward journey. CBD oil is known to soothe pain, release tension and stress, expand awareness and help the body and mind naturally shift towards states of ease and relaxation. As such it is a potent support for meditative and introspective practices.
If you’ve ever felt that meditation was too hard for you because of a racing mind, or that the way you were meditating didn’t really land---your body could be the missing piece in the equation, and/or the addition of CBD may be just the thing you need to go deeper. The combination of a somatic approach and CBD is also a wonderful way to regulate your nervous system and foster healing, recovery and stress reduction.
The session is open to all, no prior experience with meditation is required. We will start with a brief explanation of how somatic meditation and CBD work, followed by a guided practice of ~30 minutes and some time to rest. Afterwards there will be time for discussion and Q&A, where you can clarify your experience, share your thoughts and ask questions.
About your Instructor
Vaishali Iyer is a somatic wellness coach and writer. She works with people 1-1 to discover and create individualised practices that support healing personal development creativity and growth. The heart of her coaching is the central role of the felt body (or life force) in all aspects of life. She teaches you how to harmonise with your innate biological intelligence—so that you can flow with whatever's happening access your power and have fun in the process. Some of the approaches she currently offers include breath repatterning embodied meditation and yoga nidra as well as menstrual cycle and nervous system coaching.
Vaishali's background is in yoga and various forms of movement including dance swimming and qigong as well as meditation. She has been practicing teaching and continuously learning within the fields of somatics movement and meditation for over 10 years. She is certified in Hatha Yoga Core Strength Vinyasa Yoga Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra and is an experienced restorative yoga teacher.
She has also trained in Laban/Bartenieff Movement as a Movement Analyst and Somatic Movement Educator as well as in Body-Mind Centering©. She is a certified Instinctive Meditation™ teacher a Total Immersion swimming coach and a certified Oxygen Advantage® Functional Breathing Instructor.
