On Saturday, October 18th,, the Mahoning Drive-In Theater presents CALENDAR FLASHBACK: 1985, re-creating an actual double feature that graced our screen 40 years ago!!This time, we flash back to August 16-17, 1985, with a 35mm double feature of Steven Spielberg’s E.T. (1982) and John Carpenter‘s STARMAN (1984)! Thrill to two tales of amicable alien visitors, one unlike anything you’ve ever seen, and one looking very much like the boy next-door!
Both were second-run titles that weekend in 1985, with the worldwide family blockbuster E.T. experiencing a rerelease, captivating audiences anew with the story of the little boy and his alien friend.
STARMAN saw release in December of 1984, when the Drive-In was closed for the season, so this screening was the belated Mahoning debut of the romantic sci-fi film starring Jeff Bridges as the childlike alien who takes the form of the late husband of Karen Allen, and their race against time and government agents to get the interstellar interloper back home.
In addition to our vintage features, we’ll screen period-accurate trailers before the films, a themed raffle, DJ set, and more flashback fun!
