On Sunday, October 12th, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater beckons you to enter a World Of Horror…with a special 35mm screening of Nobuhiko Obayashi’s phantasmagorical Japanese mind-melter HOUSE (1977)!What starts as a sun-shiny live-action cartoon turns into a nightmare unlike anything you’ve ever seen, when a teenage girl and her school friends take a trip to visit her aunt, only to find the titular domicile domesticated by deadly spirits, the mood morphing from sunshine and lollipops to a candy-colored nightmare.
Featuring a bubblegum pop soundtrack from Japanese group Godiego, a film that starts off feeling like a 70s Hanna-Barbera production and ends like a Daliesque fever dream, HOUSE is a film that needs to be seen to be believed…we invite YOU inside the mad, mad mind of Nobuhiko Obayashi…if you dare!
