About this Event
Preserving Community Memories through the use of audio and film
Motivated by the desire to preserve and share community histories and the memories of members of those communities, oral history recordings are at the essence of many community archive or heritage activities. Whether for an established community archive group or the first steps for a community heritage group, oral histories (both audio and film/video) provide a widely used approach to capturing often hidden and unheard memories - memories that are often vulnerable to being lost or absent if not actively recorded as part of a community-based oral history project.
This conference will include a keynote presentation by a community oral history practitioner, expert presentations and a panel discussion / Q&A. Most importantly, presentations from community archive and community heritage groups who have used oral history approaches in their own activities.
The programme is being finalised.
