Building Strong Decision-Makers
About this Event
Free Community Event- 🧠 Building Stronger Decision Makers
Good decisions don’t just happen—they’re skills we can learn and practice.
Join us for our October Table Talk as we explore substance use prevention and how the choices we make can affect our health, brain, relationships, and everyday lives.
Our featured speaker is Lenay Porter, Pediatric Registered Nurse, who brings more than 20 years of experience as a school nurse and currently serves as the School Nursing Bureau Director at the Utah County Health Department, overseeing 52 school nurses.
Together, we’ll talk about:
💡 Understanding addiction and how it develops
🧠 How substances can affect the developing brain and body
🚭 The risks of nicotine, vaping, marijuana, alcohol, and opioids
🤝 Recognizing peer pressure and making healthy choices
💪 Healthy ways to manage stress and difficult situations
🗣️ Refusal skills and what to say when offered substances
❤️ Resources and support for those who need help
The goal? Give young people and families the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to make healthy choices and stay safe.
