The People's Blockade will be the largest peaceful disruptive protests for climate action in Australia’s history - you don’t want to miss it!
But, that’s just the beginning! In 2025, Rising Tide will move toward mass civil resistance - a mass movement of disruptive direct action, grounded in the long tradition of the many nonviolent movements that have come before us.
Join us as we prepare and skill up for both!

SESSION 1: 10:30am-12:00pm PEOPLE'S BLOCKADE INFO SESSION
Join us for this special Information Session where we’ll take a deeper dive into what to expect when we stop coal exports from the world’s largest coal port for an unprecedented 50 hours this November, and how you can join us!
From camping to kayaking, meals to volunteering, how we stop the ships to kids activities, we’ll cover the People’s Blockade in Newcastle and the Canberra Wave across the full 10 day program.
What to expect:
* Information on the 10 day plan - what to expect and when to come!
* Meet other Brisbane folk who will be heading to the Blockade
* How we will support transport to Newcastle

SESSION 2: 1:00pm-4:00pm NONVIOLENT DIRECT ACTION TRAINING
The climate stakes could not be higher. There is no time to waste. We are on the trajectory to mass disruptive non-cooperation. Join us to skill up and prepare.
We will explore:
* What direct action looks like and the possible legal consequences
* The things we worry about, and how do we avoid those situations?
* Interacting with police - know your rights!
* De-escalation skills
