BOP 26 Artist Talk / Clémentine Schneidermann and Charlotte James
In It’s Called Ffasiwn photography, styling and performance become tools for experimentation, expression and confidence, rather than markers of status or industry belonging. Drawing on their own industry experience, Clémentine and Charlotte have taught the young people skills such as sewing, customising clothes and styling. The children helped put together and model the outfits in the photographs, which were taken by Clémentine.
Clémentine and Charlotte have been developing this socially engaged project for over ten years, which is now culminating in a new exhibition at the National Museum Cardiff with an accompanying photobook.
In this artist talk Clémentine and Charlotte will discuss their decade-long journey making It’s Called Ffasiwn, sharing many images from the work and touching on the realities of producing a photobook in 2026. The project was exhibited for the first time at the Martin Parr Foundation in 2019.
This talk will be followed by questions from the floor.
