About this Event

The Migrating Rocks exhibition has been created by Alyson Hallett in response to a research project looking at returning rocks to Aotearoa New Zealand, Māori protocols and ethical futures. Migrating Rocks explores how geological specimens have moved across borders, asking who owns rocks, how they travel, and what their journeys tell us about power, place, and belonging in a changing world.

Event Series

Thursday 16th April - 2:00 - 4:00pm

On this day Alyson and Claudia Hildebrandt (curator) will be available to chat and explore themes in the exhibition. We anticipate this will be a relaxed and reflective afternoon and there will be a chance to hold the rocks that have been given a formal Māori blessing. Please reserve a free ticket.

Thursday 21st May - 2:30 - 4:30pm

Alyson and Claudia will be in conversation about the project, what it means for a poet and curator to work together and what this project has achieved and hopes to achieve in the future. The conversation will take place from 3.00 - 4.00. Please reserve a free ticket.

** On both occasions there will be a chance to hold the rocks that have been given a formal Māori blessing.
