Join us as we host Author Angela Flournoy as she speaks on her book The Wilderness with local book influencer Cree Myles!Angela Flournoy is the author of The Turner House, which was a finalist for the National Book Award, a finalist for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize, a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers selection, an Indie Next pick, and a New York Times Notable Book of the Year. Her fiction has appeared in The Paris Review, and she has written for The New York Times, The New Yorker, Los Angeles Times, and elsewhere. A graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, Flournoy has taught at the University of Iowa, Princeton University, and UCLA. She lives in New York.
Cree Myles is a Webby nominated book influencer, writer and former organizer. She runs the Penguin Random House vertical All Ways Black which uplifts Black writers and the readers who love them. She has been in conversation with such luminaries as Ta-Nehisi Coates, Amanda Gorman and Roxane Gay. In 2022 she won the Bertelsmann Award for Outstanding Entrepreneurial Achievements along with a Shorty Award. In 2024 she won the inaugural Make Art award from The Cr8tive House. In 2024 she hosted the Penguin Random House produced “Baldwin 100 Podcast” which peaked at number 3 on Apple’s book charts. She has written about books for Elle, Electric Lit, The Mary Sue and Afropunk.
