Step into a relaxed and inspiring 4-hour workshop where you’ll explore the joy of abstract painting. Guided by award-winning Tauranga artist Sue MacDougall, you’ll learn how to loosen up, trust your instincts, and create vibrant, expressive work.
This workshop is about letting go of perfection and embracing colour, movement, and spontaneity. Through simple techniques and guided exercises, you’ll discover how marks, layers, and colour can evolve into your own unique abstract artwork.

Sue Mac Dougall lives in Tauranga and is an abstract artist known for vibrant, bold and expressive paintings inspired by the ever-changing beauty of flowers and her garden. Working intuitively, she embraces spontaneous mark-making, allowing colour, movement and emotion to guide the process. Layers of energetic brushwork and lively palettes celebrate nature in full bloom. Her work has been exhibited widely across the Bay of Plenty, including the Tauranga Art Society Expo, where her painting Delighted To Meet You won the Supreme Art Award. She also hosts the Love My Greece Art Retreats each September on Aegina, Greece, where she shares creativity in an inspiring Mediterranean setting.
