About this Event

Join us for a special screening and discussion of Blurring the Color Line, an award‑winning documentary directed by Crystal Kwok. The film sheds new light on Chinese and Black race relations in the Jim Crow‑era South by examining the lives of Chinese grocers serving Black communities in Augusta, Georgia. Drawing from stories from Kwok’s grandmother, the documentary reveals the complex, intertwined histories often overlooked in traditional narratives of the American South.

Following the screening, director Crystal Kwok will join a live conversation moderated by Renard Monroe, Executive Director of Youth 1st. The program will conclude with an audience Q&A.
