Two Sundays - 10/6 and 10/13Blues singers always need to add new material – and good singers don’t just cover a song, they find ways to ‘interpret’ a song to fit their vocal style. In this intensive workshop, singers will develop two 12-bar blues pieces that they can perform with any band, exploring different strategies for beginnings, endings, and rhythmic possibilities.
Instructor Pamela Rose, along with guitarist Garth Webber, will help students delve into their pre-approved chosen songs, teaching new strategies on how to take control on any bandstand. Students will gain vital vocal and arrangement skills to deliver meaningful performances, with a strong focus on how to communicate with the band via appropriate signals.
Prerequisite: Students should have a good understanding of what a 12-bar blues is.
This class will meet in a large, well-ventilated room.
