The NZFH4X4 Big Four is back for 2026, running alongside the New Zealand Fishing, Hunting and 4X4 Expo in Rotorua.
This year we have made the competition even stronger, with teams of 4, a bigger prize pool, more category prizes and a much better prize giving experience back inside the main arena at the Energy Events Centre.
This one is built for the people who live and breathe the outdoors. Whether you are glassing hills, chasing boars, walking up birds or targeting trout, the Big Four is your chance to bring the crew together and take on one epic hunting and fishing mission.
Red Deer and Wild Boar can be taken from anywhere in the North Island.
Rainbow Trout and Pheasant must be taken from the Eastern Fish and Game Region.
Big Four Rotorua runs from 12 to 16 August 2026.
Teams must be back at the Energy Events Centre by 12 pm on Sunday 16 August for weigh in, with prize giving held in the main arena amongst the Expo action.
For 2026, we will have prizes for 1st to 4th place across all categories, plus overall winner prizes based on the strongest average result across the categories.
There will be close to $20,000 in total prizes, including major spot prizes and support from brands including Hamills, Superior Pet Foods, Bush Proven, HIKMICRO, Kaiwhakangau, Svord and more.
Major spot prizes include a rooftop tent, along with a range of other prizes still to be announced.
Similar to last year, teams will also have the opportunity to donate an animal to Hunter Good. In 2025, with the support of teams and Hunter Good, around 600 kg of processed venison mince and pork was donated to community groups around the region. We would love to support that again in 2026.
This year entries will run through Flicket, making the process much more streamlined. Teams can enter their details, confirm their crew and pay through one platform.
Hunt and fish from Wednesday to Sunday.
Weigh in from 12 pm Sunday at the New Zealand Fishing, Hunting and 4X4 Expo.
Animals and fish must be fresh.
