Description:
The act of Bibliomancy is a form of divination, a close relative of Cartomancy (tarot). It is likely
something you’ve already done at least once - very intuitive and simple in performance, but
infinitely rich in application and depth.
The magic of books is well known; portals to other worlds and life changing realizations. But
what if they are not simply the importing of data from one mind to another? A linear transmission
from A to B? What if books can be conversational in real-time? Well, that depends largely upon
how you think the universe works. And what language even is.
The first part of the class will be a discussion of the metaphysics of divination and meaning, the
art of asking questions, a slap-dash history of symbolic print-making, as well as how and why to
do Bibliomancy.
In the second part of the class, we turn you loose in the illustrious Bookin’ It! Boutique to peruse,
experiment and freely ensorcel for self and other. This will be followed by a group session where
we can chat and possibly share. If there’s enough time toward the end, we can even formulate a
question as a group and do a collective reading.
