Beyond Bath: Stories, impact & community

We'll share highlights from BWR's 2025/26 Impact Report, celebrating what has been achieved over the past year and the people and communities who have made it possible.

We'll then hear directly from people who have resettled in Bath, exploring their experiences of arriving, settling and building a life in Bath – from the challenges they have faced to the connections, opportunities and sense of belonging they have found along the way.

There will also be an opportunity to join the conversation and reflect together on what we value about building a welcoming community in Bath, and what we can all do to strengthen it.

We'll finish the evening with food and informal networking, with plenty of time to meet others and continue the conversation.

Our panelists

Wahideh Sadat and Mir Abdullah Miri are an Afghan couple who settled in Bath through a resettlement scheme, with support from BANES Council and Bath Welcomes Refugees. They have since built their lives in Bath and are active members of the local community. Both are involved in education and contribute their lived experience, time and support to work around refugee participation, inclusion and thriving, helping individuals, community groups and services better understand and respond to the needs of people rebuilding their lives after resettlement.

The event is open to BWR volunteers, supporters, members and anyone interested in learning more about refugee experiences and building a welcoming community in Bath.

Beyond Bath is a series of talks designed to raise awareness of global realities through the voices of migrants, refugees, and activists, all working towards a more inclusive society.

is a small but dynamic and inclusive charity. Volunteer-led and non-partisan, our mission is to facilitate the settlement and the path to independence of those who come to us seeking refuge.
