About this Event

Berkeley Circle #4: Equanimity: The Quiet Virtue

In a world of constant change, uncertainty, and emotional intensity, how do we remain fully engaged with life without being overwhelmed by it?

Join Margaret Cullen and Dr. Roger N. Walsh for an intimate conversation exploring equanimity—the quiet strength that allows us to meet life's joys and difficulties with greater balance, openness, and compassion.

Margaret Cullen is a licensed psychotherapist and meditation practitioner with more than 45 years of experience. A pioneer in bringing contemplative practices into mainstream settings, she co-developed Compassion Cultivation Training at Stanford University and is the founder of Compassion Corps and Mindfulness-Based Emotional Balance. She is a Mind & Life Fellow, founding faculty member of the Compassion Institute, and author of Quiet Strength: Find Peace, Feel Alive, and Love Boundlessly through the Power of Equanimity.

Roger Walsh MD, PhD is Professor emeritus of Psychiatry, Philosophy, and Anthropology at University of California, and author of books such as Essential Spirituality: The Seven Central Practices and The World's Great Wisdom. He is a student of the world’s contemplative traditions and a Tibetan Buddhist Lama, and also cohosts the podcast Deep Transformation: Self-Society-Spirit whose recent guests include Governor Jerry Brown and Margaret Cullen.
