Behind the Scenes Tours

Ever wonder what it looks like in those off-limits areas of the Old Idaho Penitentiary? This is your chance! Visitors will be allowed to explore buildings and cells that are normally closed to the public. Stationed guides will be on hand in each area to answer questions and share stories.
Saturday, October 17, 6:00 pm-10:00 pm (last admission 9:00 pm).
This event is FREE to Idaho State Historical Society Members!
Registration for Idaho State Historical Society Members begins Tuesday, September 1 at 10:00 am. Interested in becoming a member? Visit history.idaho.gov/membership for more info.
Public registration begins Monday, September 7 (Labor Day) at 10:00 am.
Admission is $15 per person. This event is recommended for ages 13+ due to graphic content and some obstacles including low visibility and uneven ground.
Note: This is not a fully accessible tour. Most behind the scenes areas require walking up and down stairs or traversing uneven grounds. Only a limited number of people will be allowed in each area at one time, so lines may form. Arrive early as lines will be cut off at 9:30 pm.
Please print or save your receipt confirmation for use as your event admission ticket. Old Idaho Penitentiary event tickets are nonrefundable and non-transferable.
