Local Voices: Boise Food History Project
About this Event
A sustainable Boise starts with knowing where our food comes from and what it takes to grow it.
Join Keep Boise Cool for a presentation by multimedia artist Arlie Sommer, creator of the Boise Food History Project. She grew up on Purple Sage Farms, a family-owned, specialty produce farm in Middleton. She'll talk about growing up on one of the first organic farms in Idaho, her work documenting Boise Food-ways like Basque sausage makers, the farmers and cooks of the Boise Farmers Market, and she'll share historic imagery of Boise food culture. Her work invites viewers to pause and consider overlooked stories and histories rooted in their own communities, which may be hidden in plain sight.
This program is part of Keep Boise Cool. Attend any three of these events and log them on cityofboise.org/kbc to be eligible to win an 18-week subscription of fresh, local produce through Global Gardens.
